Your daily source of breakbeat, dubstep, electro swing, ghetto funk music.

SIFSD – (FFS RMX) – The Chemical Brothers [Virgin]
‘Born in the Echoes’ is the name of the eagerly awaited new album from the Chemical Brothers due out this summer. To whet our appetites, they have dropped the first single – ‘Sometimes I Feel So Deserted’ – a grungy, mechanical electro vibe with a dash of acid house and a stirring vocal. On the remix we welcome Future Funk Squad, upping the ante with an increased tempo and floor shaking, banging breakbeat!
If you would like a 320 of this, please email: [email protected] with ‘Chems RMX’ in the subject box.

MIND VORTEX: AGAINST THE GRAIN EP [RAM RECORDS]

Uplifting, intelligent, and just the right amount of grimey is what you get when you go Against the Grain, and MIND VOTEX did a superb job conveying that with their most recent EP earlier this month. Against the Grain, is the most recent addition to the groups discography, following Colors from just under a year ago,and it does not disappoint, nor should you expect anything that Ram Records sends to the masses.
Whether these tunes are getting you through traffic, your work day, or not even getting you through anything at all because you just enjoy good music, don’t sit on these. In fact, I dare you to sit at all while you feed these top shelf productions to your brain.

Hopefully it has paid off and you guys dig it! We have also made a full 45min live AV mix which gives you a taste of the visual part of our shows.
We want to extend a HUGE thanks to Dave Towers from Federation of the disco pimp for laying down some sensual sax lines for us and as ever to the legend MC PRofit for the hype and tight rhymes throughout.
This has been a big project for us so we really appreciate comments, feedback and if you dig it please share away!

LSM’s 10 Mixes For The Weekend
It’s weekend time once again and yep, we’ve got another 10 cracking mixes from many different genres for you to get stuck in too. As we have done before we lay them out in the format of mixes to get you warmed up for the weekend, mixes to get the party rocking and mixes to see you through the other side when the banging beats all become a bit to much.
This weeks mixes come from 2 Bears, The Allergies, Da Fresh, Slinksta Records, Dope Trik, Andy Faze, Mob Tactics, Pete Herbert, Retsu and Se7en Deadly Breaks. Lets roll them out…
4 Warm up mixes to get the feet tapping :
A mix of House and eclectic worldly beats and sounds from 2 Bears as they provide us with a warm up mix for their appearance at this years Sonar Festival. A very interesting and intriguing collection of music that builds very nicely. Get the download HERE.
Celebrating signing their latest EP ‘ Kickin’ Up Dust ‘ to Jalapeno Records, The Allergies give us this promo mix of straight out Funk. They have also added in some choice cuts off their new EP so if Funk is your thang, get on down, this is one for you! Get the tracklist HERE.
Next up is the latest helping of music therapy from the 1605 Podcast. French producer / dj, Da Fresh is in for the guestmix as he brings us his pick of the bunch of Tech House and Techno tracks with a slightly deeper feel from the last month. Get the tracklist HERE.
Rounding off the warm up mixes is a two and a half hour mix of Reggae beats from, Slinksta Records that starts of slow and dubby, then progresses to some Nu-Funk influenced Reggae and finishes off with some boisterous Ragga Breaks.
Now for some mixes to get the party bouncing :
Utah Saints must be buzzing to have, Dope Trik signed to their Sugarbeat label. The Dope Trik guys supply us with a mix of Jackin’ House and Techno with a tempo that’ll have you bopping along constantly as you do you hair and pull on your best threads for a night on the tiles!
After a small break, Andy Faze is back with his ‘ Elements ‘ Psy-Breaks Podcast and he’s hitting this one hard. Loads of new stuff on show here with a real true Psychedelic feel. Get the tracklist HERE.
Drum n Bass duo, Mob Tactics drop a mix of epic proportions as they get warmed up for their show at Fabric on Friday the 5th June in Room 2 for, Viper Live. Proper jump up D n B right here and if you dig click HERE to get yourself a ticket to the event.
The last 3 mixes that’ll get you through the 6am lag when it’s gone a bit sideways :
The first of the laid back mixes comes from a veteran of the dance music scene, Pete Herbert, which is given to us by, The Ransom Note. This mix was recorded on the, Sancho Panza Boa Boa boat party. An hour of deep, twisted Disco awaits your ears and mind. Pure grooves!
Alex Niggemann’s, Soulfooled Podcast is one that always delivers the deepest, heartfelt and mind melting music. This weeks podcast comes from Italy’s, Retsu and is laced with the most celestial of tracklists and is pure soul food!
The Se7en Deadly Breaks boys do love to smash it when it comes to playing out but like many of us, they too love the deep vibes you sometimes yearn for in the early hazy hours of the morning. This 90 minute mix is a couple of years old now but as vol. 2 is currently being assembled they have recently let us have this one for free. Top dudes as this is stunning. Bring on vol. 2!
Enjoy the weekend ladies and gents!

High Contrast – Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Phibes Remix)

Swingamajig 2015 Well what can I say..? I know that we’ve kept banging on about it, but we can truly say that the bar has been raised. Swingamajig has come of age this year and was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was stunning and the quality of acts was second to none. Congratulations to the Electric Swing Circus, C@ in the H@, and all the organisers who did such a fantastic job pulling this together. My own highlights? The Dutty Moonshine Big Band absolutely rocked, great to see Chinese Man bring their downtempo hip hop grooves, Elle & the Pocket Belles with Mistatrick, and of course getting to do my own Silverscreen Soundsytem VJ show. If you missed it this year, then put the date in your diary because there is no better festival to choose on the vintage circuit than this.
Right. Let’s hit the music.
Free Music Top of the class goes to another fantastic and free compilation from Speakeasy Electro Swing in Montreal. Who else gives you this much fresh new content for free? Well done guys. Dive on in and see what goodies you can find!
A modern classic getting tweaked by Phibes:
And your boy Phibes again getting funky with Caro:
Swing? Ghetto? Yep and yep. You know what’s coming…
It’s never a bad time to drop Etta James’ I Just Wanna Make Love to you and even more so with a new C@ in the H@ mashup version:
Deep, sexy and grooving jazzy beats from Frizzo. Very nice.
FOR THE REST OF THIS POST CLICK READ MORE…
C@ in the H@ adding some bounce to this one:
Vassili Gemini dropping a little bouncey swing-house groover:
I’m not sure how politically correct this is, but the track is bouncing and would fit in a drum & bass section quite nicely:
Nice little swing version of Britney:
JPOD extended the groove of this soul classic. Available from here.
More from JPOD. Don’t actually know how to describe this, just listen and see if it works for you…
Grant Lazlo with a jazzy swingy cover of Miles Davis classic:
Funky soul sounds from Odjbox:
Chinese Man getting got by Smokey Joe & dat kid. Download from here.
Son of a preacher man remix:
My Baby Don’t Care For Me Remix:
Electro blues from that man Mick:
New Releases Electro Swing Club – Vol.2 I mentioned this last month, but it’s only just come out and so I think it definitely deserves another shout. So many good artists on this, amongst others Father Funk, Elle & the Pocket Belles, Timothy Wisdom, Captain Flatcap, Budapest Burlesque and the After Hours Quintet.
DJ Dunya – The Road Is Long Fresh, fresh and freshly squeezed! DJ Dunya is rocking the electro-blues bass heavy groove with this tidy new release.
Charlie Beale – Breakin Down Blues EP Another bagful of bouncing electro-blues from the south of Englands very own New Orleans.
Yolanda Be Cool – Soul Makossa (Money) Okay it’s more funk & soul than swing but I’m addicted to this at the moment from the guys behind We No Speak Americano. I can’t see when it wouldn’t be a good time to play this gem…
Sound Nomaden – Madame Remixes EP Plenty of good stuff on this too. Start off with the Johnny Lectro remix I reckon:
DJ Mixes Last up is Hooka sneaking in with another whistle stop journey through a whole bunch of big tunes from the swing world:
That’s it. See you in a month! If you’ve got anything you’d like included in future roundups hit me up on soundcloud.

Funk Ferret – Thank You (Free DL)

FREE TUNE FRIDAY!
Words from the big man:
“Back in November 2013 something great happened to music. Something that hadn’t been heard in the (almost) mainstream for a very long time. Busta Rhymes released ‘Thank You’ which featured a very prominent sample of Alicia Myers’ ‘I Want To Thank You’.
I was crazy excited to hear something so great and classic make it into the wider market. I had high hopes of this track throwing a spanner into the modern music works and crossed fingers to hear more sampled classic joints like this in the future… unfortunately that never happened. The mainstream music scene is just far too large and powerful to have one fresh new sound thrown into the mix and influence the modern sound.
So I say to you, get your remix on! Cut, edit, sample and remix away! Challenge the norm! The more alternate fresh material out there, the more chance it’ll have to influence the scene!
When I first heard the original Busta Rhymes track, I absolutely loved it! It was widely played, and unfortunately became a little overplayed, and almost left again as quickly as it entered.
I made this re-boot quite a while ago, so I’m hoping the time has passed and you’re ready to hear this one again!
I wanted to edit the original Alicia Myers version, and absolutely loved Q-Tip in the original Busta Rhymes track, so I used Q-Tip again here, although this time making use of his ‘Work It Out’ acapella.
With a bunch of extra sampled material thrown in, I hope this one brings fresh light to not only the well played Busta Rhymes version, but also the classic original by Alicia Myers.
I actually really wanted to do some more production and mastering on this one, but somehow I have lost all the project files! Ggggrrrr.. So this is it!
Enjoy!”
