These two tracks from XEROPOINT both flex some serious musical muscle!!!! We start with the abrasive synth’s and minimal beats of ‘Whats Up’. A harder and more hedonistic take on the stripped back style of D&B. The approach here is quite the opposite of the deep subs you might be used to. The synths growl and spit venom, often rudely interrupted by hoover riffs and subtle shades of 90s rave.

‘Badman’ sounds like The Predator creeping through the jungle waiting to ambush his prey. Crunchy beats, shards of the amen break. The aluminiferous hole punching bassline on this robust number seethes with computer rage and rudeboy attitude. XEROPOINT  must have been pretty angry when he created these fearsome beasts in the lab. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!!!!

Xeropoint- Whats Up / Badman [Physmatics]

DJ Shadow aka Josh Davis is a well known American producer and DJ who rose to fame with his highly acclaimed debut studio album Endtroducing. As well as being a top turntablist DJ Shadow can play LIVE instrumental versions of his music which i have seen for myself and is truly amazing. This mix was recorded LIVE at Bonnaroo Festival back in June 2007 and contains some rare B sides from him as well as the more popular tunes we all know and love.

DJ Icey has been presenting his Automatic Static show for quite some time now, always on top of his game DJ Icey brings the best in Breaks & Bass music as well as new tunes from himself and a whole bunch of others. This edition of Automatic Static was aired back then on SIRUS FM and features a very special 30 minute guest mix from the master of Breakbeat Krafty Kuts about half way through the mp3.

Releasing a studio album pretty much each year from 2006 Hyper aka Guy Hatfield is well known for his use of live instrumentation such as guitars and bass fused with modern electronic elements. He has also performed as a band under the name Hyper Moniker, featuring Prodigy members Leeroy Thornhill and Jim Davies. Their first studio album We Control advanced Hyper to the stages of festivals throughout the world. Nowadays Hyper produces music for well known movies and TV shows as well as his own music.

Miss Monument has been on quite a journey for her latest set of gigs as she headed out to Colombia to entertain the party hungry crowds that went to see here. She was a guest of the Colombian Techno crew, Acid Resistance, so went fully prepared with a stack full of huge Techno tracks to sit alongside her familiar Breaks sound. The mix featured has on board some of the tracks used at her shows and it’s pretty clear the Colombians would have been dancing hard to the music laid down by Miss Monument. Driving, intense and energy packed music on the way! Someone say party?
