S.Nolla is a Spanish producer who loves all things Funk and Disco, but can be found dipping his toe into other styles such as House Techno, Trance, Progressive and Jazz when creating originals, edits and remixes of his own. His latest piece of work has seen him venture down the Disco route as lashings of extra groove are applied to The Temptations classic ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’. What ever happened to Plaza De Funk ?

Italian by birth Plaza De Funk moved to London in 2005 releasing award-winning records receiving huge support from the likes of Fatboy Slim, Elite Force, Plump DJs, Rico Tubbs & Black Noise. In 2008 he walked away from Breakspoll with the award of Best Breakthrough Producer but where is he now ? His last post on Facebook was in 2014. This mix was recorded LIVE at UK’s Glade Festival in 2009 and shows the talent Plaza De Funk had for producing music and playing it out LIVE as a DJ.

Known as “The Godfather of Breaks” Rennie Pilgrem’s contribution to the early Nuskool Breaks scene is outstanding and given this title is often considered responsible for the creation of the Nuskool Breaks genre. Before moving into breaks Rennie produced techno and acid house and was part of the influential rave group Rhythm Section along with Ellis Dee. Rennie is also the boss of Thursday Club Recordings aka TCR a label which he founded in 1993. TCR records was a major force in the Nuskool breaks scene. Now concentrating more on his talented art skills Rennie has stepped back from the dance scene and continues to produce some great works of art.

Elite Force aka Simon Shackleton has been in the electronic music scene for well over 15 years from his early beginnings in a band (Headless Chickens) with the well known Thom Yorke of Radiohead fame to his early electronic music beginnings with Lunatic Calm. Elite Force is a true professional which has seen him tour on every corner of the globe and gather a large fan base over the years.

This LIVE mix was recorded at the Breakspoll awards back in 2011, right around the time the Tech Funk Breaks genre was gaining momentum. Elite Force won 2 Breakspoll awards that night, one for Best Producer and one for Best Label (for his highly regarded U&A imprint). The mix itself is a great journey of breakbeat music and one of the stand out sets of the night.

Here we have a very recent bootleg recording of 808 bass master DJ Icey. I’m quite sure this recording is not of his whole set as it’s only 13 minutes long but a good mix none the less. The Ultra Music Festival was founded back in 1999 at it’s headquarters in Miami Florida gaining a high patronage over the continuing years and extending itself to 7 LIVE stages over a 3 day period.
