Every Brazilian on the planet will still be buzzing from how their footie team went about winning the gold medal at this years Olympics and the guys from Arcade Fighters are no different. They’re so happy they’ve put up this sharp and snazzy Disco tune, which is dedicated to and named after one of their all time heroes from Brazilian football, Zagalo. Plenty of good times will be had to this track, so make sure you’re getting your share by giving it a spin.

The third in Ultra Bass Record’s critically acclaimed compilation series ‘The Ultra Underground’ could be summed up in a two-word review ‘absolutely essential’. But we won’t just do that, let’s talk a bit about the mouth-watering tracks on this classy comp.

For 2 Step Garage and grime lovers, check out the awesome tunes by Erban Fox, Lamont Dex, Celladore, Bitr8 & Thorn, Digital Pilgrimz, On1, and Harri Georgio & Scrivs. Listening to said tracks makes you realise how much depth there is in a sub-genre. You get everything from timeless oldskool UKG to cutting edge Bass cum Techno cum Grime

If like this writer, you’re partial to a bit of quality Deep/Tech House then Adam Hyjek, Mr.Spring, Terror Tone,  and 99db;s contributions to ‘Ultra Underground Vol 3′  are House Music at it’s finest

Love Bass House? Stravan, Renaud Genton and Bitr8 & Thorn have got that more than adequately covered for you

And you love a bit of firing 98′ style Speed Garage you say? Well, you might be forgiven for thinking DJ Parallax and Xales’ offerings on this fantastic album are straight off a dusty vinyl from back in the day, super authentic!!!!

Love your House Music Funky, Jazzy, and Psychedelic? Then Nicolas Meyer has four perfect jams to fill that void for you. His ‘Devil Cell’ EP is filled with sunshine soaked hazy grooves like the title track and tracks like the off-kilter ‘Always Drunk People’

‘Pornonaut’ sounds like Miles Davis jamming with a Digital Audio workstation and ‘The Folding Man’ transports us to a smoke-filled Jazz club with it’s spaced out swirls and deep bassline. This is a very fine EP indeed. Get it from the Closer To Truth imprint from Beatport 29/08/16 and 12/09/16 on all good download stores

It wasn’t too long ago that Nick Behrmann was testing the foundations of the ward with his ‘Lost Transfer‘ EP and now he’s back doing it again! This time it’s his intense and insanely good Acid infused Techno track ‘Twister’ that is doing the damage, both to the structure of the building and our minds! In for remix duties of Nick’s track is, Beat Tempest, who throws the cloak of darkness over the original which gives it a more sinister vibe. Both tracks are amazing and will have you zoned out and locked on from beginning to end, so press play to make your day!

Back in 2004, Angelos Stoumpos aka, Timewarp, was hugely influenced and inspired by the Nu-Funk and Dub Electronica sounds that were around. He knew that in his homeland of Greece those styles of music were lacking and knew this had to change, so he went about creating his very own label, Timewarp Music.

From 2004 to the present day, Timewarp Music has grown massively and has released a staggering amount of high quality music. There’s over 500 tracks to be found on the labels Soundcloud page which is enough to keep anyone highly entertained for a very long time. With all these successful releases it might go without saying that Angelos has created one of the go to labels for all things Nu-Funk, Nu-Disco, Dub and Breaks. I’ve dug in to a small portion of what’s available from Timewarp Music and I can assure you that I will be digging a lot deeper in the future.

Should all those words need backing up, check out the fifth compilation album in their ‘Freestyle 4 Funk’ series and you’ll soon see why the label is one you really need to keep tabs on. 16 tracks make up the album that’s features a incredible selection of old, new and unreleased tracks in Downtempo, Dub, Reggae, Nu-Funk, Soul and Breaks styles. The range in styles means there will always be something different around the corner which will have locked on with excitement to see what’s up next. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again “there’s some seriously good albums to have graced the ward this year” and this one from Timewarp Music is right up there with the best of em!

Although ForrestFunk keeps himself busy as one third of the Swiss collective, Break Boutique, he does like to dabble, just a little, in making his own tunes. For that we can be very grateful because, as you’re about to hear, this dude really knows how to bring the funk! Just check his impeccable regroove of ‘What The People Gon’ Say’ by Reuben Wilson and you’ll know exactly what we mean. He’s one producer I’m sure we’ll be featuring again, that’s for sure!

The fifth in the series of multiple artist EPs on Something Different Again begins with some rolling epic Acid/Tech House from Daniel Allen & Hector Moran. Transitioning from squelchy 303s into peak time Techno next up is Jose Vilches ‘Royal Moby’.

Mecre & Lau Frank keep up the tense pounding Techno vibes with ‘Exotic Flower’ and Patrick Burge sees this excellent EP out with the euphoric late night trancey rush of ‘Just Be’.
