Rennie Pilgrem & BLIM – LIVE @ Groovetech – 17.1.2001
2001 was a good year for the Breaks scene, the beginnings of the highly followed Nu Skool breaks era and the emerging of familiar artists such as Rennie Pilgrem and BLIM. This set was recoreded LIVE at Groovetech Radio back in January of 2001 and showcases a lot of tunes from TCR (Thursday Club Recordings) part of which Rennie Pilgrem was the label boss and BLIM (a classically trained musician) one of it’s top artists at the time. Hope you enjoy this glimpse back into the past !

Loadstar - Encarta / Change the Channel
Buy it here: https://ram.lnk.to/LoadstarChangeTheChannelfp
2016 has been a climatic year for Loadstar, having played the UK’s
biggest festival stages seeing them once again gear up for a string of club
releases. The anticipation is slowly growing with each fresh sonic piece of
artwork and after the critical acclamation which has followed their career
it’s easy to see why. Whether it’s the gritty basslines the guys are known
for, or the more melodic rollers which have peppered their sets recently,
they’ve stuck to a versatile soundscape and this output will be no different.
The next stepping stone in their colossal release schedule is ‘Channel
the Channel’ and ‘Encarta’. Both tracks platform quick-firing beats and the
quickly processing basslines apparent throughout the darker side of their
discography.
‘Change the Channel’ sets a precedent. Rolling forward on an
incredibly deceiving intro, one which focuses on a melody that resurfaces
at various segments, although you’re soon dropped into absolute chaos.
Reminiscent of their earlier productions, yet bringing together more
harmonious elements, you’re drawn into a sound which merges two ends
of the spectrum. Snatching hooks snare themselves within the mix, before
the track slowly begins to collect itself. A flicker of cinematic sample
breaks this down quickly, once more throwing you head first into a
smashing relay of breaks.
Bouncier and hitting harder with every kick drum, ‘Encarta’ follows
with clicking hi-hats and warbling bass notes which build with every layer.
A track that heavily relies on its build up, the track is diced up into
segments and with each part you’re thrown down a conundrum of
smashing percussion. A construction line of drums hit harder and harder
with every loop pattern and you’ll be unable to pull yourself out of the
track’s composition. It’s so tightly woven, Loadstar’s ingenious design
becomes very clear.
Igniting crowds worldwide, whether in Las Vegas or at
Glastonbury, Loadstar have returned with more fire than ever.

Fort Knox Five – Pressurize The Cabin Remixed
The big day has finally arrived and it’s now time for us all to join in the celebrations with Fort Knox Five as they roll out their 100th release. As we mentioned not too long ago when we brought you the world exclusive of their ‘Funk The World 36‘ mixtape, the release is well worthy of such an occasion.
Fort Knox Five’s ‘Pressurize The Cabin Remixed’ album is the release that everyone who encounters it will get overly excited about. Rightly so to because on the album are 20 of the biggest remixes from their masterpiece that is ‘Pressurize The Cabin‘. When we say ‘biggest remixes’ we really mean ‘biggest remixes’ because featuring on the new album is a bunch of immensely talented producers from all around the world with many of them being household names, well, to all of us cool cats anyway.
You can find filthy, bass heavy Glitch Hop from, The Funk Hunters, Father Funk, Basement Freaks, Bobby C Sound TV, Sammy Senior, J*Labs and Warp9. To cleanse the mind just a little after all that filth, Slynk, All Good Funk Alliance, Farid, Ursula 1000, Smalltown DJs, SkiiTour and DJ Dan & Mike Balance all offer remixes with varying flavours of Nu-Disco, Indie Dance and House. Deekline and Wes Smith weigh in with a couple of Breakbeat rockers each and to keep Fort Knox Five’s eclectic sound rolling, Bart & Baker bring the swing, Knight Riderz provide a mind altering Trap remix and Thunderball (FK5’s alter ego) smashes out a huge D n B remix. It goes without saying that all of these tracks are laced with the feel good Funk Fort Knox Five are so well known for. There is definitely something for everyone on this amazing album, that you can be sure of.
The album is also a tribute to the always missed and always remembered, Jon Horvath. It’s one year now since he sadly left the world but his spirit shines bright through the entirety of ‘Pressurize The Cabin Remixed’. One of the best albums you could ever own? You betcha!
