Most people will remember Freq Nasty (aka Darin McFayden) as the man with the long dreadlocks. Originally from New Zealand Freq Nasty made a name for himself in the early era of the popular Nu Skool Breaks scene developing his own unique style of music as a producer and DJ using a selection of very underground tunes in his mixes. This mix from January 2000 was recorded LIVE at the Triple J Radio studios in Australia.

The Funky Breaks are in full effect as we welcome a new name onto the ward, DJ Nomad. This French funkster loves a good mash-up and after checking a few on his Soundcloud page, and this one posted, it’s clear he’s got the art nailed! ‘Soul Power Is On Earth’ takes Dj Rebel‘s ‘Soul Power’ and 20th Century Steel Band‘s ‘Heaven and Hell Is On Earth’ and collides them together head on to produce the liveliest party track to land on the dancefloor.

We last brought you music from Duskope back in the summer and with this free 2 track EP from him, the great memories of much warmer times when we was all dancing in the sunlight become fresh in our minds once again. The title track of the EP ‘Shine’ has the feel of a tune to be played when the suns just gone down and it’s time to party, while ‘Spiritual Soul’ gives off a more after hours vibe with a darker and bassy sound. Both tracks are total keepers and will get a night rockin’ no probs.

Chicky Boom is a French producer and remixer who likes to play around with different styles. House, 2 Step, UKG, Broken Beat, Afro & Latin and Disco are many of the areas he loves to dabble in and it’s the latter of those which he brings us now.

His ridiculously Funk filled edit of Martyn Ford’s ‘Happy People‘ is out to do just that by making lots and lots of people happy. The original as been retouched respectfully and is shining bright once again, just as it deserves to. If you want to smile like I am doing (cheesy grin), give it a whirl!
