Just before he set off to enjoy the great times in Amsterdam for this years ADE, Oskar Smaal dropped this dancefloor heater to get everyone in full party mood. It’s a rework of Todd Terry‘s classic ‘Weekend’ which he’s now jacked up with a harder kick to his Tech House take on the original. With this one in your arsenal of party weapons, it won’t just be party time tonight but every night!

Deelicous is dropping by with a deelightful Disco edit of ‘Street Man’ by the late 70’s/early 80’s group, Brooklyn Dreams. Like many edits of today, this one has plenty more meat on the bone and with a slight switch up in tempo and the goosebump raising strings that remain from original, you’ll be feeling this one massively. Let those good times you get from music flow freely.

Funk Hunk his back once again to flex his Funk muscles with this jaw dropping re-edit of Deodato‘s 1979 hit ‘Shazam’. Things kick off in a purposeful manner and after just a few seconds, the anticipation levels will rise as to were you’re heading. As the Funk flows you’ll be met by a bassline hook that rips through your speakers which then gives way to some sparkling horn action. At the halfway point, that soul shaking bassline drops in once again before the Funk and horns take over. What a tune!!!

Reza & Barry Obzee pay tribute to the 1992 classic ‘Who’s The Badman’ by Dee Patten. The original was a massive crossover track played in House Music and Oldskool Hardcore circles. Reza & Obzee are themselves veterans from that very early rave scene. Their new take on ‘Who’s The Badman’ brings it nicely up to date in a dark Tech House style fitting with the Instereo Recordings style.

Those familiar vocals are nicely blended in with a huge building drop, layered drums and dark bubbling keys. All ingredients for a massive tune for oldskool and nuskool heads alike!!!

When All Good Funk Alliance pop into the ward with music, we always welcome them with open arms, mainly because these guys like to mix it up with their sounds. We’ve brought you a stack of mixes from their sublime ‘Late Night Workshop’ series, helpings of funky goodness and now for something completely different, a 90’s tribute mix that pays hommage to the sunshine filled R&B and Hip Hop music from that decade. 90’s R&B and Hip Hop certainly takes me back to some memorable times and I’m very sure that after you’ve listened and checked through the amazingly picked tracklist, you’ll be reliving some of those golden times too.

The mix was recorded for the 80HD Podcast series, which is one that really caters for the needs of every music lover. There’s no limits on genres as far as they’re concerned, if it’s good music, they’ll let it be heard. Check them out here.

One of our favourite ladies in Breaks, Miss Mants, has really put the pedal to the metal on her remix of ‘In Beat We Traust’ by, Lady Waks & Mutantbreakz Feat. Rubi Dan. As well as harnessing the filthiness from the original, Miss Mants has given this a classical twist with string sections neatly placed throughout her remix and in particular, a breakdown just over halfway that sends tingles down the spine, before the broken beats and bass kick in hard once again. Ace Breakbeat business!

Check the original here, plus a trio of equally impressive remixes from Wes Smith, 601 and Adrenalinez.

It’s now 6 years since Abdomen Burst released one of his very favourite tracks of his own. ‘Sakkura’ is that track and after he listened to it in present times, he felt that it just didn’t sound as crisp as it could be, especially as time and technology have moved on. The only thing he could do that felt right was to give it a remaster and add in a bit more strength. It’s pretty damn clear that his work has paid off and his personnel favourite will now become one of yours as this extremely beautiful and heart warming slice of Progressive Breaks takes over your world.
