It’s time we had a catch up on some of the fine releases on East Recordings

Caramen- She Called

Caramen’s latest EP is a dark opus of combined techno, tech & prog house that swirls and pounces with musical brilliance

Pablo Del Monte-Throw Your Love

Two throbbing tenebrous house heaters plucked from the streets of Detroit, Michigan. Both certain to tear down the house and test your sound systems. Remixes are of the highest order supplied by DJ Vox & Sagia

D_Know-Bottleneck

There’s a ragga vibe to the title track of this pacy pounding title track. DJ Vox goes fully into Techno territory with a rousing remix and we get a bonus track  also firmly on the palpitating techno tip

Bompe-Lusting Over You

Energy-intense, peppered with lazer like stabs and ethereal strings. Bestraddled with wonderfully rich drum patterns and tribal beats. That’s just the title track which you might just mistake for a mid 90’s house classic. ‘My Secret Crush’ is a gorgeous submersed sounding Deep/Tech House track with latin percussion. Two truly stunning productions

Our November catch up with Yoo’nek Records features a couple of premium house music offerings from James Stait & Marcus Wedgewood

James Stait Ft Hayley J Brown-Broken Smile

It could be argued in fairness that a good piano tune is the essence of great house music. James Stait certainly does that here and the pure diva vocals are sung to perfection by Hayley J Brown. For those who like their house a bit techier/more on the bass house tip, Mark Johnstone & AmR are on hand with a tough remix that strips back the vocals and turns up the BASS!!!

Marcus Wedgewood- Output EP

Middlesborough’s Marcus Wedgewood has a great niche of house meets breakbeats that has done the rounds on top labels like Pink Fish & Freakin909. The Output EP is a 2 track release on the US tip. Dark, heavy and driving. And we get some of those trademark breakbeats on ‘Rock’em’ reminding us why we love Marcus!!!

Low Steppa’s Simma Black/Red labels are go to for some of the best and most diverse house music around. We catch with their latest releases in the month of November 2016

Pinto (NYC)- That Sound

3 tough grooves from Pinto (NYC) ranging from the hypnotic to the outright banging!!! Lovely drums throughout

Full Intention-All I See Is You

Long time legends of house music, Full Intention are on particularly fine form with this heavy hitting disco-laced Garage track

ROOG & Dennis Quin-2A EP

2 Frequenters of the Simma labels and for good reason. ROOG & Dennis Quin go all out with a couple of firing techy bangers with a touch of mid 90s Todd Terry and a whole lotta bang!!!

Made By Pete-Drunk In Chicago EP

A couple of real treats from Made By Pete!!! The Marshall Jefferson sampling title track is a moody affair perfect for late night hysteria.  But we love the drum-laden almost breakbeat jackin’ house of ‘I Like It Lucy’, big!!!

We’re catching up with one of our fave House labels, Unique2Rhythm with 2 essential new releases by True2life & Secret Sinz/Wayne Dudley….

True2life Ft Phillip Ramirez- That’s How Much I Love You

This track will wrap you up nice n’ warm with seminal soul/disco sounds set to a house beat and completed by vocals that perfectly fit the mood and vibe of this great big underground modern classic. How much do we love this? 110%!!

Secret Sinz & Wayne Dudley- Living In The Moment

Secret Sinz draws inspiration from 90’s house music anthems a la Basement Jaxx, anything on Defected, Strictly Rhythm, Todd Terry et al. He distills those influences into his own crisp productions loaded with all the good stuff, pianos, sweeping melodic drops, you name it.

Wayne Dudley is another favourite to the blog and like Secret Sinz, he too has carved a clear niche for quality beats with an oldskool feel. This collab really is the best of both worlds featuring all the vital ingredients as mentioned above. As a real bonus, Wayne Dudley’s remix is a deep soulful treat with a touch of Fusion Groove Orchestra style smoothness, rolling percussion and a catchy as fire lead hook, excellent!!

A collection of instrumentals from Bryan Ford’s May 2016 LP featuring  Wu-Tang alum Killah Priest & Pugs Atomz> Pure Hip Hop for pure Hip Hop headz!!!

Piem, Yamil – Burning EP

Piem & Yamil dish out some technically sound and sonically superior Tech House/Techno for their ‘Burning EP’. It’s all about the detailed textures and wholesome floor burnin’ beats on the title track and ‘Dodgy’.  Rounded off by tidy remixes by Fancy Inc. and Neil Parkes, this is another rock solid addition to the Criminal Hype release catalogue

Gogan – Knives & Hammers EP

Gogan brings ‘Knives’ and ‘Hammers’ to Swerve Digital. but we’re not talkin’ kitchen utensils here. Rather we’re talkin’ psychedelic minimalist Techno crafted from asteroid dust and welded to beats from the rings of Saturn. dharkfunkh gives ‘Knives’ a dark extra terrestrial Techno rerub that’s Drumcode level ace!!! Duss remoulds ‘Hammers’ into a out of body but on the dancefloor refix. Top class techno!!!

In case you missed it, Gogan also made this funky riddim ‘What Is Honey’ free to download on Swerve’s SoundCloud

VA-The Collusion 3 [Inna Rhythm]

Silent Approach, Jays 1, Geoff Keating & Sweet drop DnB science of the Neuro, Tech & Liquid variety. Top level production on all 4 of these rockets!!!

Tenebre- Territory 1

Fearsome Techno from Tenebre sounding like a raver’s alternate Game Of Thrones soundtrack, epic and very very heavy!!!

Matthew Warren – NY Vibes EP

Another gem of a release on the Everyday Hustlers imprint. Two tracks by Matthew Warren on the US House/Garage tip with a touch of 90’s Hip Hop for good effect!!!

NVOY- Aurum EP

A wash of warm heartfelt synths, subtle kicks and airy vocals make up the graceful ‘Make You Mine’. ‘Further’ is a bassy blast of Future Garage perfect for any dancefloor. Great work from NVOY and a fine release for Black Butter

Kipp$- Le Chant

Luscious Latin House beats from Kipp$ and a ultra flava’some Tech House remix from Sleazy Deep boss, Rob Made, ariba!!!

Push N’ Ball- Expander EP

When it comes to fulfilling your music dreams, Stuart Ojelay must be well on his way to completing many of his. With a long association with the legendary, Hed Kandi, and because of his superb production and DJing skills, he’s played in every continent on the planet at some of the biggest and most extravagant parties out there.

Stuart’s production work is all House based but he likes to mix it up and sounding fresh by dipping into Bass, Soulful, Deep and Disco styles of the genre. The latter of those is what caught our attention in a big way with this reboot of his of ‘Dance With Me’ by, Carrie Lucas. You’ll more than likely remember the tune of the original as Armand Van Helden used it in his track ‘You Don’t Even No Me’. Stuarts’s owning this one though as his rework has a real driving force and has a massive amount of funk and groove on board and we love a bit of that!

Download Stuart Ojelay’s reboot here via Hypeddit.

Taking it back the oldschool is Doctor Jeep with a new mix of all Breakbeats including a selection of music from the 1990’s plus a few new tunes from the legendary hardcore breakers 2 Bad Mice. This is not your conventional mix of Breaks but a selection of oldschool sounds.

“For this mix I wanted to do something a little different and gave myself a theme to work with – only using tunes that strongly incorporate a breakbeat in their rhythm section. I find it much more difficult to organize a set this way (as opposed to my standard strategy of just tossing in a bunch of new stuff and hoping for the best), but it keeps me fresh. I find breakbeats weirdly hypnotic and just love the loose groove they provide. The mix contains some brand new and unreleased tunes from myself (DJ Bark Lee) alongside a few 90’s rave tracks and upcoming bits from classic artists like 2 Bad Mice. Shoutout to Dubbel Dutch too for “Throwback” – that was the first vinyl I ever bought!” – Doctor Jeep

Are Breaks making a return to the spotlight of EDM music ? To me they never went away and Breakzlinkz is proof of that. Spanish DJ, SEEKFLOW raises the question with a new mix of upfront Breaks and Bass music.
