We catch up with a recent batch of House & Techno bangers on De-Funkt Recordings/Traxx

Jay Kay & NYR – Choices

To quote the Futurama Police-Bot ‘Aawwwww Yeeeeeeaaaah!!!’. This Jay Kay & NYR track is supah saxxy, features tingling pianos, it has all the ingredients that make a perfect House anthem ‘Damn!!!’

Sound Out – Feeling Good EP

The Sound Out boys are back with a frsh round of their 90’s Rave infused House. ‘Feeling Good’ could make grown men cry with the euphoric pianos, rave breaks and hands in the air beats n’ bass, no need for drugs, just feel the rush!!!  Jay Kay offers a tougher techy take on the original.

‘Hot One’ is chuggin’ good with weighty stabs, slappin’ beats and hoover riffs. Subjektive rework ‘Hot One; into a Ibiza piano anthem. This is a hot one that will leave you feeling good fo sho!

Massïme – Dark Water EP

Thump Thump Thump, oh yes!!!! We love a bit of pumpin’ Techno here at the blog and pumpin’ Techno is what Massïme does with the ‘Dark Water EP’. We enjoy the dark funky stomp of ‘Vudu’ plus Hoodrat’s late night sojourn of a remix. ‘Dark Water’ is a bump in the night monster of a Techno track with a nice Drumcode style rerub by Ripkhord. Nice!!!

Jonas Blake – Control

Jonas Blake lays the sonic smackdown with Skapes style bassy roller ‘Control’. The excitement level gets further amped up with remixes from Jay Kay, Buka! & X Amp. Booom!!!

Jay Kay & Conor Magavock – Cold Groove

Jay Kay & Conor Magavock get their ‘Cold Groove’ on, a tasty Tech House track with a large dose of oldskool class for a free download

3000 Bass have for us music from an artsit we’ve featured several times before, Bristol based, Llnk. His new tune ‘Break’ kicks off with with an intro that samples a tune that the old gamers out there will recognize, as it’s been adapted from the classic beat ‘em up ‘Street Fighter 2′. The euphoric intro will lure you in but be warned, fierceness is just around the corner as the track takes off with an almighty drop and morphs into a real hot stepper of a tune with it’s quick tempo and dark, yet rich bassline. The sample is threaded throughout the tune which gives it a proper hands in the air feel and will easily have you reaching for the sky. Class work once again!

Scottish artist and rising star, Waterson teams up with the legend Ashley Beadle for ‘Shelter’.

‘Shelter’ is a great piece of music but it’s much more than that. We live in dark and confusing times but there are rays of hope. While a Nigel Farage like figure is the US President-elect, Austria, the home of Adolf Hitler rejected a far right leader in their recent elections. ‘Shelter’ is all about that message of hope and unity. It takes House music back to it’s roots in the summer of love.

It goes without saying that production wise this is a classic, the striking new romantic/soulful vocals enhance a truly powerful tune. Plus Moodymanc, Hannah Holland & Kryptogram are al on board with top class House & Techno remixes to complete one of the best releases of 2016. Music with a big heart

Bass House with thunderous snares and bass stabs that could strip paint, a plethora of top drawer remixes including Gribzy’a Tech House rerub, one that’s rockin’ our boats!!!

Dephex & Gribzy – Get Up On Your Feet

Two artists you need to know!!! ‘Get Up On Your Feet’ is an explosive rumble of bass meets 2 step. ‘No Swing’ is a straight up grimey bass roller, ‘Run For Cover’ cleverly combines soulful vocals with a menacing backdrop of UK Funky beats and horror like synths. Digital Pilgrimz remixes ‘Run For Cover’ into a Niche/Bassline/Speed Garage influenced track, music to get up on your feet to!!!

Endaf – Make It Through ft Helena-May

Sublime future soul from Endaf with forward thinking remixes, The real cherry on the cake being Digital Pilgrimz & Shaun Dean’s UK Garage/Bass House remix

Top Drawer Digital have uploaded a classic mix by Digitally Mashed from 2009. Listen back to the early days of a sound known as J-Tek, a pure underground sound that drew influence from earlier Jungle Tekno, Tekno & 93 ‘Darkcore’ fusing it with Dubstep, DnB & Breaks. 7 years on this mix contains tracks that sound way ahead of their time
