RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME – DABKEH

Restless Leg Syndrome is a musical team from Austria consisting of longtime DJ and producer d.b.h and the two turntable wizards Chrisfader and Testa, who split up most of the Austrian DJ championships between each other in the last decade and also made a name for themselves as producers. The concept behind their joint-venture is quite simple: Take a specific genre of music, sample and flip it into danceable beats. In the case of their second EP “Dabkeh”, named after a popular Mediterranean form of line-dancing, the subject of the musical explorations is the Arab world. The three guys from RLS spent quite some time mining old vinyl or cassettes to create the tracks on this EP, in the hopes of getting some wild Dabkeh moves started on dancefloors worldwide! The whole Ep is released now via Tiefparterre Records in cooperation with Duzz Down San and can be purchased on any trusted digital retailer or on 12”.

As a goodie for the Ghettofunk followers the dudes from the Restless Leg Syndrome are giving away the incredibly good remix of their track Britney Spears from DJ BUZZ (Waxolustionists)!

Costofix has long been an artist, composer and musician with a deep touch in many branches of the art world and has also been the main driving force behind the world renowned Radio SoLoud. Recently his sublime remix of Bob Marleys Them Belly Full featuring Gidon had a film clip made that was created during dark, harsh times in the midst of major demonstrations in Israel. The video was filmed in a deserted building in Tel-Aviv that stands empty like so many others, whilst vast numbers of people don’t even have a roof over their heads and explores the impact of the financial crisis and consequential extreme behaviours on the country. The imagery has parallels to many other countries throughout the world and highlights the growing gaps between rich and poor and the concerning decline of the middle class and with the subject matter being somewhat dark, the tune which is available as a free download conveys the message superbly.
