After entering a remix competition for Lee Coombs’s mighty Thrust Recordings he was quickly snapped up by the label and recruited to write a full length artist album! Now its time to throw down with the pairing of one of the biggest labels in the mid tempo, funk & breaks scene and one of the freshest new talents out there today, Bombstrikes and Herbgrinder.

Bombstrikes have really been a leading force in creating the scene, with 2014 being their 10th year in the game. The first two release’s on the label set the standard of the Nufunk / Ghetto Funk sound and original vinyls now sell for serious cash. From early bootlegs to collaborations with all the leading players including Mooqee, A.Skills, Krafty Kuts, Nick Thayer, Featurecast, Badboe and Ali B to future funkers Slynk, J-Roc, Pimpsoul, Neon Steve, Mr No Hands and of course Herbgrinder, they have become a name synonymous with party starting beats and deadly funk basslines.

With this year being a decade in the scene for the label, they have some huge celebrations to come so you really need to be following them on Facebook and Soundcloud for all updates.

Relative newcomer Herbgrinder has really found his place at the label with several high profile remixes and originals released. His fans include all the top names and you wont find many a set without at least one Herbgrinder track in there somewhere. The Nottingham based funker is just about to unleash his second original EP for Relative Dimensions. “The Funka EP” sees Leygo laying down four big and bouncy ghetto funk jams that are already causing a bit of a stir amongst the funkay community.  He really nails the big and bass heavy sound on these tracks with “Sleng Teng” already up for track of the year with its combination of classic ragga vox, crisp beats and larger than life b-line. I’ve re-created my set from BassCoast Project 2013′s Slay Bay stage. I absolutely loved this stage and festival. After hanging out for the first couple of days getting the vibe of the party and seeing what was getting played, I decided to throw down a bit of Funky Breaks, Ghetto Funk, Bass, Nu-Disco, Hip-House and Funky Techno all mashed up in a party cocktail! If you have not been out to BassCoast up in Merrit, BC, you’re missing out on a great festival. Highly recommended!
