Jon Kennedy – Exclusive Mix

Very pleased to bring you a fresh, new and exclusive mix from Jon Kennedy (Grand Central/Tru Thoughts). After we reviewed the simply awesome Corporeal Remixed album earlier this year we wanted to get Jon to lay down some of the sounds he wows crowds with at his gigs.

He has launched his own label, The Jon Kennedy Federation, to look after and release music by some of the scenes leading lights and most promising up and comers. Check out all the info, roster and back catalogue HERE.

Lost Frequencies – Tell Me (Feat. Sanna Hartfield)
Lost Frequencies is a young producer from Belgium who likes to make to make his music with a whole lot of groove and his track Tell Me does not fail on that note. This track will transport you to that beach of your choice with a sweet slab of piano, smooth vocals from Sanna Hartfield and even a sneaky slice of sax!
I’m sure after a listen you will agree, more sax please!

Bass, 140 & DnB Round Up 12.2.14

Got a truckload of tunage for you today, some you will need to buy (and you should!!!) and some are free, so lets begin with some bass bangers, Strange Rollers has a new free EP, the ‘Oldskool House’ EP featuring 2 tracks of bumpy 90′s inspired jackin’ house with that added SR signature bass, you can get it from the new SR bandcamp page
Our favourite Jedi master is back, the man they call Stormski on the mighty Kode 5 with the ‘Junglist Rewind’ EP, like the title suggests we are in classic jungle territory here from 140-160bpm including the excellent (and great fun) Max MC sampling ‘Big In The Dance’ and DJ Gunshot inspired ‘Love Me Now’, big tings!!!!
Harry Rox & Dr Wrong’s ‘Addiction’ is a gritty U.K Hip Hop number featuring live instruments backed up by 2 Future Jungle/Bass Remixes by Non Compliance & Model 101 & Menace, the strong message in the lyrics harks back to Shut Up And Dance ‘Diary Of A Crackhead’ and indeed has a similar optimistic but pull no punches feel of the sound of the early 90s, major props to Kut Off Records who continue to buck trends and put out pure and simple good music without the boundaries of genres to hold them down, this label deserves to be huge
The prolific Paul Cronin serves up a freebie of melodic breakbeat hardcore well worthy of your attention, lots of nice pads and key changes in this tough roller
This 140 Jungle track by Mighty M is the essence of dopeness, if DJ Zinc & Hype teamed up to make a future jungle track, it might just sound something like this, boom!!!
Here’s a nice update/re edit of the old Carl Cox fave by X Static up for a download, you’d be foolish not to!!!
And here’s another re touched old skool classic, Urban Shakedown gets the remix treatment by Era Sound, the results are banging!!!!!
DJ, Blogger, Producer and renowned crate digger and fountain of junglist knowledge, Tim Reaper has a rather tasty new old skool hardcore tune up for download, more on the late 92/early 93 vibes at 160bpm
Sir Morbit drops another heavyweight 140 bass/jungle banger, we’re really feeling this bad boy!!!
We’ve got some dark 2 step garage here from Borderline Jack offering their own unique take on house anthem ‘Let Me Love You For Tonight’ by Kariya
Further proof that the old skool never dies is this EP free from Hi Headz by Riffz with one of these 2 hardcore inspired DnB tracks being a rework of DJ Seduction ‘Come On’

GROOVE ARMADA & BRODANSE – SWEAT – MARTEN HØRGER EDIT

From the moment I heard this very tidy edit of Groove Armada and Brodanses stonking tune Sweat by Marten Horger over on the Stanton Warriors After Hours London Warehouse DJ mix, I have been waiting with baited breath for it to see the light of day and I am very happy to announce that Marten has finally let it loose for the masses. Taking the original and adding those syncopated rhythms that we breaks fans so love, he has turned out a real first class rub that is sure to have dance floors vibing.

SAMMY SENIOR’S MIXTAPE DIG #48

Weeeeeell Hello everyone! This is in fact the first Dig of 2014.. you may be thinking, what a lazy bastard Sammy has been.. and you are right! I have been holidaying in Canada and Mexico, doing nothing more than a bit of DJing, a bit of Surfing, and plenty of “being a lazy bastard” Although i’m still on holiday (now in New Zealand) I have been watching the mixtapes pile up and decided I had better get my A into G and get some of these out to you before it’s too late.
Firstly though, i’m sure you are well aware as the hype is building, the people are talking, Fat Harrys blurbs are starting to leak like a pregnant woman’s neglected nipples and the Previews are rolling in.. THURSDAY is the day folks, that marks the 100TH SCOUR EVER! Spinforth is working round the clock to deliver you the best scour yet.. a handful of carefully crafted tunes from some of your favourite producers to make this occasion monumental. PLEASE and i stress PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE show your support if you have ever listened/downloaded/participated in the scour, by sharing/liking/commenting to make sure that all the hard work Spin and the artists have put in feels rewarded.. I know it will mean a lot to them.
NOW
Since I have been away I have a bit of catching up to do, here’s a few mixtapes that I feel are not to be missed!
Starting things off with this cheeky little swing number by g-sus, which focuses on the heavier side of swing sampled tunes, short and sharp at only 20 minutes long, this mix is like an espresso.. guaranteed to have you bouncing off the walls on the way to work in the morning.
Next up is an impressive mix by Sista Sara from Australia. Reggae/Ragga vibes on this one, mixed to perfection, this one has got roadtrip/BBQ/summer written all over it, if none of those things are on your agenda because you are currently in the middle of winter, I suggest you download it anyway. why? because it’s awesome that’s why.
Drop The Heat, Mixed By Sista Sara by Sista Sara
When Zac Panic sent me a mixtape with the description “A specially concocted mix of classic hip hop, breaks, bass and reggae blends” I got excited, and you should too! This mix is 100% organic.. which means no pesticides and it’s GMO free..Hippies rejoice!
100% Organic Funk Slice Mix by Zac Panic
A while ago I received a DELICIOUS mixtape from Bassfunk Plymouth (who throw down a HUGE party if you are ever lucky enough to participate), but as I was taking my break I stored it ready to unleash in my first mixtape dig back. Since then they have released a volume 2.. I tried to choose between the two but like choosing a favourite child, I decided some things are best left to the public. Here’s both, you choose!
Volume One
Bassfunk Mixtape VOL 1 (Funk & Bass) (Free D/L in description) by Bassfunk UK
Volume Two
BASSFUNK MIXTAPE VOL 2 (The Funk Out) (Free D/L in description) by Bassfunk UK
Hmm that should keep you happy for now, I’ll be back next week with more. Please show some love and share/thumb/comment/hug the artists!
Have a good Week all!
Sammy Senior
