Kinetic Eon-Time Traveler EP-Kut Off Records

Kut Off Records is a label that is truly deserving of the term ‘bass music’, rather than rigidly sticking to one popular or preferred genre, a cursory glance at the labels back cat will show the diversity Kut Off has to offer from hedonistic old skool rave/hardcore infused future jungle from the likes of DJ Flow to Acid Breaks from Champion Breaks and the deeper strains of bass from the likes of artists like Provoke and Kinetic Eon whose ‘Old Skool Flava’ from last year on this very imprint was, and is a firm favourite of this writer. The Time Traveler EP comprises of three opuses each representing the deep recesses of the mind, combining the artistry of ambient or IDM with a dancefloor ethos, ‘Mockingbird’ is a dark and epic hybrid future jungle roller that indeed sounds like a sci fi voyage through the annuls of time while parts 1 & 2 of ‘Where We’re From’ are hypnotic and cinematic with cleverly chopped up breaks. Kinetic Eon’s new release is a journey we highly recommend you embark upon….

Chango – Burst EP-Ground Mass Music

Ground Mass Music have some wonderfully dark footwork jungle in the shape of Chango’s ‘Burst EP’, the title track is a dark brooding tribute to the Metalheadz sound with menacing hoovers, ‘BUNdem’ has a nice hybrid sound blending classic jungle, footwork and juke for an atmospheric ride, ‘Recognyz’ gets into deep, Chicago influenced territory a la Lemon D, Dillinja with clicks and whistles a plenty for a thoroughly twisted and totaly enjoyable track, finally ‘Disintegration’ sets out to do just that to your cranium with a monstrous techno esque bassline and sick 94 style warp bass, made to devastate, this an essential slice of footwork action from Ground Mass!!!!

HIGH ROLLIN - Exclusive Mix For Breakzlinkz February 2014

High Rollin was born in Murcia, Spain. He got into music from a very young age; experiencing a wide variety of styles such has hard rock, metal, hip-hop, funk, soul, etc. It wasn’t until late 2001 when he left the band in which he played guitar and fell in love with a new style, breakbeat, a genre dominated by artists of the size of Plump DJs, Krafty Kuts, Stanton Warriors.. etc.
In 2006, he started his own promotion company "Big Riddim" and he started to organize his own parties and events. At this stage, his interest was in underground sounds such as Breakbeat, Drum&Bass and Electro. Two years later, he gambled on this type of music and started promoting his own events across the Venues and Dance Clubs of Murcia, Spain. 2012 can be considered as his most successful year, organizing three massive events (known as Big Riddim Festival) with an average crowd of 1200 people.

Beatport
Breakbeat Paradise Recordings is proud to introduce a new act to the world of funky beats and breaks, straight from the streets of London – Mr Bristow and his main man Benny Silver on the mic. They’ve both been performing together for years as part of the live hip hop act Super Soul Soldiers, and with this new EP they’re bringing along a unique flavor that lies somewhere between classic 90’s hip hop and modern day ghetto funk.
Mr Bristow has been DJ-ing for more than fifteen years, performing in clubs all over the world alongside legends like Carl Cox, Norman Jay, DJ Yoda and many others. His mixing skills have featured on XFM, Radio 1 and Pioneer DJ Radio.
The My Life track is based on some big funky grooves and a straight up banging beat, with mc Benny Silver laying down the chords of his life into three banging verses. The package comes with blazing remixes by some of the very best producers in the scene: funky street beat master Tom Showtime from down under, soul brother beat smith Roast Beatz from the UK and B-Side resident producer from the Ghetto Funk label.
Reviews:
MonkeyBoxing:
“Mash-up maestro Mr Bristow makes his BBP debut with the My Life EP – a funky chunk of Brit-hop that features his Super Soul Soldiers comrade in arms, rapper Benny Silver…”
Juno:
“When mash-up DJ extraordinaire Mr Bristow conquered his native St Albans in fine style, he embarked on a 15 year journey that has seen him win awards left right and centre whilst DJing all over the shop and even teaching the next generation of DJs in his Hoxton HQ. Here he delivers a cheeky hip-hop ditty, laden with vintage brass stabs and featuring the autobiographical raps of Benny Silver. Think a very British Fresh Prince and you’re there. Best of the remixes is Roast Beatz that ups the funk factor to 11. House party gold.”

SIZZLA: I’M LIVING (ED SOLO & STICKYBUDS REMIX)

ED SOLO and STICKYBUDS take this new Sizzla tune for a drum n bass ride. The rasta power runs high on the remix by keeping the reggae roots deep. The production on this track is nothing short of magic: snares are crisp, layered precisely on the rolling bassline.
Grab the tune on Beatport or Addictech.
Stickybuds is also on a bit of a whirlwind tour this spring. I’m particularly stoked to see him in Winnipeg on the last date of the “Springin’ Around The Globe” tour. Catch him if you can – no regrets will be had.
