Miss Monument has played at several festivals throughout this summer, including Glastonbury and Boomtown Fair and she has put together a mix of some of the tunes that have rocked in her sets. If you managed to catch a set from Miss Monument over the summer it sounds like it was all going off!

If you’re liking the sounds in this mix you can catch Miss Monument playing at her night in the Royal Sovereign, London called Broken this Friday, 5th September. Joining her on the lineup fresh from playing Kazantip is the Don of Breakbeat, Mafia Kiss. Entry to the night is free, yes that’s FREE entry, so if you happen to be in the area it’s one party not to be missed. Head to the Facebook event page HERE for more details.

Another Retro mix for you this week, courtesy of Bertie Dastard and the Free Breaks Blog. This time the legendary outfit of the Tear Out Breaks scene, The Breakfastaz. This mix is from March 2005 pretty was much at the height of the Nuskool Breaks Tear Out sound. Although the Breakfastaz are no longer together they certainly shaped the sound of breaks into some of the sounds we hear today.

Former members Froe, Gav and Merf made up the nu-skool breaks collective known as The Breakfastaz. They had been working together on a number of musical projects for several years and the wide-ranging influences they collectively bring have helped to form their unique breakbeat sound.

With over 20 successful releases and remixes on respected breaks labels such as Passenger, Mob, and Against The Grain in little over 2 years , their offerings received support and heavy rotation from scene stalwarts such as Plump DJs, The Freestylers, Tayo, Ali B, Meat Katie, Aquasky, Krafty Kuts, Deekline and even catching the ear of Zane Lowe, highlighting the enormous impact they’ve had on the scene in such a short period of time.

Their hard work was recognised, with the guys being featured on the front cover of IDJ’s ‘Players Of The Year 2004’ alongside the likes of Mylo and The Shapeshifters and also winning Best Breakthrough Act at the Breakspoll World Breakbeat Awards 2005, as well as being nominated for the Best DJ, Best Remix and Best Compilation awards in 2006.

Leuce Rhythms are a DJ/Producer duo carved from the cosmos of electronica in a big bang of Broken Beats and booming Bass. They were nominated as Best New Producer & Best New DJ at Breakspoll International Breakbeat awards in 2012 & 2013! With a simple philosophy to fuse together all that is good in electronic music, from pumpin’ funkin’ Breaks to filthy Electro.

Following releases on Hardcore Beats and MOFO Recordings, and a remix for the Dub Pistols on Sunday Best, and of our own Rebel Sketchy’s Acid Drops a couple of years back, the Leeds based duo release their debut artist EP on Ground Level.

The three tracks on Illusion Reality explore different areas of the worlds of bass and electro-breaks. The EP’s title track combines elements of Complextro with deep sub bass and rising melodies. Deeper Down works on a four to the floor electro vibe, using deeper pads and FX to invoke a wide-vision cinematic mood. So Good on the other hand is a peak-time anthem with it’s combination of squelching risers and feel good good chords, all brought together by a female vocal refrain.

Together these tracks combine to show a duo at home with the EP format, and using it to explore and experiment with the larger world of electronic music.

The above release can be purchased at Beatport: www.beatport.com/release/illusion-reality

Here’s what the peeps are saying:

“Loving these tracks 10/10″ – Orbital
“ace production, spacious and melodic, like an updated fingerlickin” – Dreadzone
“Good Stuff” – Ed Solo
“Massive” –  Jay Cunning
“Like the groove” – Lady Waks

This is a LIVE recorded mix from Leuce Rhythms mixed at label Ground Level’s special event “Bridge The Gap” in Derby UK in the beginning of July this year.

Just incase you thought the 8 incredible mixes we’ve brought from Boomtown Fair wasn’t enough, we now have another 2 for your aural pleasures! These come from Se7en Deadly Breaks and another from Breaksjunky.

Some people name the closing sets at nights out or festivals as ‘ the graveyard set ‘ because of the lack of people left on the dancefloor at that time. 99% of the time though these sets are some of the biggest and the craziest of all the sets played and this mix from Se7en Deadly Breaks proves that point, with no doubts what so ever! Just over an hour of gritty Bass filled Breaks from this duo who are fast becoming a name to have on your lineup to cause mayhem on the dancefloor!

Breaksjunky found himself with a second set at Boomtown, this time at the Spaceport Terminal 2 stage. The mix is another from him that you come to expect everytime. Bouncy, energetic Breaks and Bass is what’s in store for the punter wishing to join him in the pursuit of the ultimate dancefloor experience!

2 mixes to get your weekend rocking!

It’s hard to believe it’s been 6 years since Force Majeure first party back in 2008 at Ambar Nightclub. In that time we’ve hosted so many amazing artists from local legends to international superstars including Kito, Loops of Fury, Reset!, Designer Drugs, Marten Horger, Nick Thayer, South Rakkas Crew, J-Trick, Emoh Instead, ShockOne, Swick, Dirtyloud, SKisM, Far Too Loud, Doctor Werewolf, and so many more.

@beatslappaz are some of Perth’s foremost breakbeat producers, back after a brief hiatus, they played the first Force Majeure show back in ’08 so there was no other choice but to bring them back for the 6th birthday. With a slew of recent releases as well as winning the Marten Horger remix comp for the Stanton Warriors label Punks, 2014 is already looking massive for these boys!
