HYPOXIA-BADASS/DISCOSHIT [TITAN RECORDS]

Titan Record’s latest release comes from Hypoxia, first up is ‘Badass’ and it certainly is that, dark griimey with a deep cavernous low end, this track is positively menacing!!!!
On the flipside from this talented Belgian duo is the lazer like, growling and snarling ‘Discoshit’ with it’s crushing, pulsating and incessant deadly groove

PIRATE JAMS: THE JAMS VOL. 2 – PART 1 [GUTTER GUTTER]

PIRATE JAMS turned heads with their first release (on Stanton Warriors’ Punks Music) with his / her / their seriously authentic throwback vibes. No one knows their real identity – but their music showcases such polished production and inspired, knowledgeable samples they’re either really up on their musical knowledge or an alias act.
*The last sentence comes direct from the submission for the release so one might assume, if the press agent is in on the secret, Pirate Jams is more than one person. If I were to bet then, Pirate Jams are a duo of some sort producing under an alias.
The latest from the mystery producer(s) does much of the same. Capturing feelgood house vibes from a couple decades ago the three track EP is yet another reminder why the ravey heydays of the 90s were so good. The cuts are out now on DEEKLINE‘s label, Gutter Gutter and available on beatport.

FAT SUSHI: ESCAPE [STIL VOR TALENT]

FAT SUSHI have made a name for themselves with their deep, garage-tinged originals and remixes so this new one caught us slightly off guard. The Swiss pair say the upcoming single is more melodic and “spheric” than some of their previous work. Personally I don’t think their back catalogue has ever lacked in melody, but this is in deed, different. “Escape” glides on some sweeping atmospherics, almost bordering on progressive territory, although it entirely avoids the clichéd build-ups. While the tune does have a big breakdown, it’s executed so subtly making the tune ideal for those dark rooms with low ceilings. For those who find solace underground, here is a cut that should be in every crate.
“Escape” will be released on Oliver Koletzki’s mighty Stil vor Talent imprint November 14.
