2hr take over for the November Juicebox! This month I leave you in the capable hands of the Soul Juice Djs

For Soul Juices Soundsystem the ethos is simple: positive beats & positive food for a positive life! Kev D & Stampatron have been playing music across the festival, club & party scene since 1998, and with their shared interests in the nutritional power of juice, the natural progression was to come together as Soul Juices Soundsystem in early 2014.

“We produce, mix & remix an organic selection of forward thinking, positive music from dub & reggae, through to latin & world with dollops of electronica, funky breaks, bumps of house, techno & dnb for the late nights….” After positive feedback from this year the bookings for 2015 have been building and this is inclusive of their plans to run the soundsystem, alongside the mobile juice bar they operate at many festivals & events throughout the summer months, not least Bristol Vegfest where the initial idea of the concept was born. Their mix here is hot off the press from their recent Soul Juices Sessions event and is typical of of their love of genre spanning, diverse, quality beats.

Wow...some mixes are a real work of art and this is one of them... Bopping across the musical spectrum, dropping head-nodding beats and taking unexpected turns this feels more like an intergalactic space odyssey than your average sound...what a treat!

‘ You Got The Love ‘ by The Source featuring Candi Staton is one of those tracks that has been remixed many, many times. Some not so good, some okayish, and some are absolute stunners and clearly it would not do to bring you something that doesn’t keep to the high standards of the LSM ward so the latter of those options is the only way to go with this Indie /Rock infused House remix by the Losers for this weeks Throwback Thursday. It has a distorted rock edge while at the same time being a pure dancefloor filler. It’s one of those tracks that’ll have your foot tapping then your shoulder shaking and before you know it you’re in the middle of the dancefloor just ‘avin it!

The Losers are the duo of Eddy Temple Morris and Tom Bellamy . You may well have seen Eddy on your tv screens hosting shows on MTV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. He also has his own radio show on XFM called ‘ The Remix ‘, every Friday night from 10pm – midnight playing a selection of tracks that are Rock and Indie remixes whilst also playing up and coming dance music with that Rock / Indie crossover. Some of the artists to get their first ever air play anywhere on Eddy’s show include Simian Mobile Disco, 2manyDJs, Justice, Kasabian and Fenech Soler. Tom Bellamy on the other hand found fame in the alternative rock band ‘ The Cooper Temple Clause ‘. The band are sadly no longer together but their music is well worth a listen. Tom is now djing under the name Rhysmix as well as banging out some quality remixes with Eddy.

There’s a very cool collection of Losers remixes on Eddy Temple Morris’ Soundcloud page. Artists to get the remix treatment include Freestylers, Gallows, Hybrid, Kasabian and Rage Against The Machine to name a few.

Although Losers are the duo of Eddy and Tom with Paul Mullen on board they form a 3 piece electronic rock band. Their music is dark, brooding, emotionally brutal but of the most epic of nature. If you’re feeling that then go give it try.

Sparked by grandma’s old vinyl collection. Re-fuelled with Wiccatron’s latest grit on the ghetto funk and electronic scene with enough breaks and bass to drop grandma’s teeth to. On the remix duty with big beats and breaks with enough funk in between to feed your ears for days. A truly sun kissed 70’s funk-flavoured big beat and ghetto funk mashup collection on this 5th EP release from danish producer Kim Sørensen aka Wiccatron, Breakbeat Dj and Co-founder of Breakbeat Paradise Recordings.

Wicatron is best known for his love of breaks and funk and all things in between. Teaming up with BadboE 10 years ago they took the first early steps towards creating the BBP Label known today, that benefitted from Wiccatron’s live experience and long time studio and collaborative fieldwork.
Rounding 5 EP’s, one studio album ‘9Fingers‘ and upcoming live events, he has come a long way since programming his first 4 track music on ‘Commodore Amiga’ used back then for demos and games at so-called ‘demoparty’ gatherings in the nineties.

This is Wiccatron’s 5th Ep celebrating with sublime groovy remixes in the big breaks and ghetto funk department. So buckle your seatbelts – enjoy the ride!

Reviews:
“Mr 9Fingers gets the remix treatment: the Al Green-sampling “Love & Happiness” gets scuffed up and ruffed up by Ghetto Filth’s acid attack. “Don’t Wanna Stop” is a swampy slab of ghetto funk – all sparkly guitars, sludgy bass and walloping beats. “Goodie Gumdrop” takes us down the sleaziest streets where low slung grooves and fuzzy guitars rule the roost. Finally “Boogie Lover” takes us to a higher plane thanks to a slinky, strut-heavy walking bassline and a steadily progressive sense of drama that builds on every bar. Each one a party-pulveriser, feel the love today.”
