Groove Armada / BBC 6 Mix / March 2015
It’s very sad to hear that BBC 6 Music have pulled the plug on their ‘ 6 Mix ‘ show which was possibly the best 2 hour dance music radio show on the planet. With residents Andrew Weatherall, Erol Alkan, Jamie xx, Derrick May, Goldie, Rob Da Bank, Dj Yoda and Groove Armada on an almost continuous cycle and dj’s dropping in like Orbital, 2ManyDjs, Dj Shadow, X-Press 2 and the late great Frankie Knuckles gracing the show with guest slots over the years, it seems very odd to close down something so rich in forward thinking dance music!
What’s done is done though and on much more positive note we have the penultimate ‘ 6 Mix ‘ show from, Groove Armada. If you’ve never heard of the ‘ 6 Mix ‘ show this 2 hour broadcast will explain what it was all about perfectly. Sit back, dim the lights and enjoy this blend of House, Techno, Disco and Funk all with an eye on the future of dance music. A pure delight!

2dB – Check Out The Bounce / Quaalude EP + Technique Recordings ‘ Summer Selection ‘ Album News
Die-hard Drum n Bass fans will undoubtedly know who the members of 2dB are, and for those who don’t it’s none other than chart topping duo, Drumsound & Bassline Smith. When they take on their 2dB persona the D n B gets a whole lot darker and tougher than their big room chart music sound as this 2 track EP demonstrates clearly. The two tracks come in the form of the powerhouse that is ‘ Check Out The Bounce ‘ that is designed to raise the temperature of the rave whilst ‘ Quaalude ‘ offers a touch of seductiveness that’ll have those hands raised in the air as you feel the rush comin’ on strong! An EP that covers all angles in the D n B spectrum, great stuff!
