Bodymovin’ – The Captain Re-Rub
The Captain is widely regarded as one of the top Funky Breaks/Ghetto Funk producers out there. His sound is well polished and has been born from his love of the golden decades of classic R&B, Soul, Latin, Hip-Hop and Rock-n-Roll and those old skool flavours then get accompanied by modern day production techniques. The Captain has received full support from artists like Krafty Kuts, Daddy G (Massive Attack), Freddy Fresh, Fort Knox Five, Skeewiff and Featurecast, so you’re know you’re doing it right when names like that big-up your work.
The Captain has been on the ward before but has only featured on compilation albums and in other DJ’s mixes. This time however, we’re here to big-up his latest free tune, a vibrant and funky Big Beat remix of ‘Bodymovin’ by the Beastie Boys. This sweet and classy jam is one that you’re gonna want to spread across the dance floor to ensure that everyone’s stompin’ to your beats. I’ve no doubts that many of you will already be acquainted with the sounds of The Captain, but for those of you who are just discovering him for the first time, it is indeed your lucky day!

Plump DJs – Elastic Breaks 2001
This relatively hard to find mix was given away for free with the February issue of Mixmag in 2001 and comes directly from my CD collection. Entitled “Mixmag Presents Elastic Breaks – The Sound Of Breakbeat mixed by the Plump Djs” it was one sort after mix at the time and one that was on high rotation in my CD player. This mix pretty much launched the careers of the Plump DJs and gained them more of a following on a global scale.

Neurodriver – Saturday Night @ Noisily 2017
The Noisily Festival of Music and Arts is one that I’ve heard plenty about and each and every person that I’ve spoke to about it absolutely loves it there! It’s one I’ve not been to yet but because of the positive words I’ve heard, it’s one that’s top of my list to attend. There’s loads of styles of music on offer and after seeing pictures of it, the festival setting in rural Leicestershire looks beautiful.
With Bass, Glitch, Breaks, House, Psy-Trance and Disco all to be found, Noisily’s mainstay is Progressive Techno and what a helping we have of that for you from the mighty, Neurodriver. He took to the ‘Noisily Stage’ on the Saturday night for the final set of the night and I’m almost certain that all in attendance would have had one of the best 86 minutes of their lives ever! I’ve certainly enjoyed soaking up the spine tingling sounds and for the rest of you that wasn’t there to experience it like me, just press play and then hit the download link to make it yours forever.

Tomcraft - What Does It Feel Like? [DBStereo Ltd]
Following hard on the heels of Tim Healey’s widely supported and radio-aired debut on DB Stereo, release 2 sees label owner Tomcraft take the stage with his latest opus.
No stranger to global number 1’s, the Munich-based ‘Loneliness’ producer serves up a slice of ultra groovy tech-funk. A DJ-friendly intro and vocoded vocal carves up the sonics with its cut-up groove before the juggernaut kick and bass slam in.
Road-tested across the globe by Tomcraft this spring and summer, the tune has been an anchor in his sets teleporting the dancefloor to euphoric beat-laden boogie heaven, whenever and wherever it’s unleashed.
On remix duty and ahead of their debut single on the label next month is Bennun & Healey - Tim Healey’s new project with Bristolian sound-smith Colin Bennun. They mine a throbbing techno groove, where rolling sub bass collides with a de-tuned Arp to deliver party pandaemonium. Like the sonic lovechild of Skream and Solomun - this is peak-time perfection.
The Mucho Stylez rework digs a deep clubby-tech vibe and tribal groove, paying homage to the vocoded vocal from the original but peppering the arrangement with a progressive groove and racing high hats.
It’s another belter from DB Stereo.

Buy/Stream: hyperurl.co/udzd6w
Hola, amigos! Those baaad hombre’s, Cameo, Myles & Gavin Francis ate cooking up some addictive house beats on Get Twisted!!! If it’s Tech House bangers you need, Cameo, Myles & Gavin Francis ‘Sinolea’ EP has two BIG beastly bangers. There’s the chant filled title track in the Solardo style and then there is our fave on this EP and a tasty track alright. ‘In The Cut’ blends wacky radio samples with a dirty bassline a la the Elrow Music, In The Loop style, We’re loving the Get Twisted take on the Tech House sound and we’re loving this EP!!!

Pablo del Monte – Stay All Night
https://www.beatport.com/release/stay-all-night/2090521
Pablo del Monte joins the Harmonious Discord with two solid outings of Deep Tech House elegance plus remixes by Litex and Jeff Scroggin Following a string of crowd pleasing releases for labels like Lupe Fuente’s In The Loop and Pablo’s own East Recordings, the acclaimed London DJ & producer features on Texas label, Harmonious Discord for the first time, combining his own distinct style with the oldskool infused ethos of the label. Litek brings a whole new dimension to an already great title track with his own tasteful remix as does Jeff Scroggin with his dub version of the original.
‘Stay All Night’ featuring vocals by LaVoyce echoes classics like Kosheen ‘Hide U’, a grand canvas of minimal yet striking chords and the impassioned voice that brings an authoritative touch. This powerful track walks the tightrope between Tech, Deep and Progressive House with seamless dexterity.
In the golden era of dance music, the B Side was always as good as the A side and ‘Emperor’ serves as the equivalent to a great B side, taking us further into the deep blue strobe lights and deep into a long night of dancing.
