As always here on the ward, we’re always pushing the smaller guys and gals of the music world. On the odd occasion though, one of the big guns rocks up with a mix that’s so damn good it simply cannot be ignored. Back again with volume number two of his ‘ Smile High Club ‘ mix series is, Fatboy Slim. The mix has been put together and released to promote and intensify the hype of the second of his ‘ Smile High Club ‘ parties which is to be held in one of London’s coolest venues, Tobacco Dock, on the 2nd January.

The night itself is built around having the best time possible with prominent names of the music world taking to the decks alongside up and coming young guns who are rewriting the history books.

This party also has some exciting news attached to it for the budding dj out there as, Mr Slim, has announced a competition with the chance play a set alongside himself and the likes of, 2 Many Dj’s, Erol Alkan, Breach, Cyril Hahn and many more on the night. ‘ Bel Amour ‘ by Bel Amour, caused quite a stir at the, Miami Winter Music Conference, back in 2000 and subsequently went on to light up dance floors everywhere the following Summer with it’s beach party feel. German producer, Soultronic, like many others has fond memories of this tune and has given it new wings with his Disco infused edit. Bring that missing bit of sunshine into a glum Autumn night!

UK producer, Leo, is dropping into the ward like a parachuting hippo with his super heavy Glitch Hop remix of ‘ Life ‘ by, Opiuo feat. Gift Of Gab. The tempo is low but there’s plenty of growl and attitude going down in this one. If this remix was a person it’d be built like a brick sh*thouse!

If there’s one thing that the ‘ On This Day ‘ feature on Facebook is handy for (other than reminding you of some daft stuff you said back in the day) is rediscovering some of the music you shared with friends way back that have just managed to slightly slip off the radar. This is the case with this infectious Drum n Bass edit from, Audiotoxin, of ‘ Sometimes ‘ by one of the legends of the D&B world, Aphrodite, featuring one of the best female singers the UK has ever produced, Beverly Knight. This edit lit up my mind when I first heard it a few years ago, it’s lit up my mind once again and now I hope it lights yours up too!
