To be honest i haven’t heard a lot from Kool Hertz in a while, so it’s refreshing that he has just dropped a new mix on Soundcloud. This mix doesn’t stick to one genre but is a collection of new beats, breaks and bass music superbly mixed in a 45 minute set.

Lanx and Nick Slater, aka the Drumattic Twins, have been a leading force in dance music since they first began touring over 20 years ago. Making their name as Shades of Rhythm, they ruled the early nineties rave scene with legendary anthems ‘Sweet Sensation’, ‘Sound of Eden’, ‘Extacy’ and ‘Homicide’ and performed with the likes of The Prodigy and N-Joi.

Since rebranding themselves as the Drumattic Twins in 1997, Nick and Lanx quickly replicated this global notoriety thanks to the massive hit tracks ‘Feelin Kinda Strange’ ‘Twister’ and ‘HyperSpeed’. They teamed up with the legendary release platform Finger Lickin Records in 1999 and settled quickly into the close-knit world of the breakbeat scene, working alongside global acts such as Plump DJs, Soul of Man and Lee Coombs.

From a string of releases from 1999 starting with top the selling “Feeling Kinda Strange” till late 2013 with their “Get Up and Dance EP” on Sugarbeat Records and 2 full length albums in between the Drumattic Twins have laid down a variety of music that have influenced the Breaks Scene and shaped it in to what it is today.

Evil Nine are an English DJ/Producer duo comprising of members Tom Beaufoy and Patrick Pardy. Gaining recognition after signing to Adam Freeland’s label Marine Parade in the early 2000’s their unique sound gathered a high following worldwide and had a very influential effect in the early Nuskool Breaks scene.

This mix was recorded LIVE at The End Nightclub at an event called Chew The Fat back in July 2008.

In 2006 Jimmy Mofo started the Beat Assassins along with Joe Lenzie, they became a fundamental part of the Breaks scene and won various awards. They spent the early days as a duo touring various parts of the world and created their own record label Mofo Recordings as an outlet to release music.

In 2010 Jimmy & Joe amicably parted ways. As the ever popular breaks scene started dying down Jimmy moved onto a Trap / Grime project with DJ Sai called Koshii.

In 2016 Jimmy went back to his roots and started producing drum n bass music under the Beat Assassins name.

Celebrating their milestone of a 2 year anniversary Breaks & Bass label “83” have put together some of the best tracks in their catalogue for this the second showcase mix available as a FREE download.
