The title track to this essential EP is disco funkin’ epicness, pure jackin’ club house action all the way.  Matteo Rosolare & JoJo Angel take this title track in a very different direction, we’re talking bangin’ drums and hard Detroit Techno stabbage for the clubbers that like to go properly crazy!!!

Quentin van Hook gives his take on ‘Bring The House Back’, another very Techno leaning remix with added snatches of breakbeats and a heavy bassline with loads of nice echo and reverb.

‘Lose Control’ is a nice busy track with tons of great arangements. This one is firmly on the Warehouse vibe with a very familiar vocal in usage. This crack team of commandos have definitely brought the house back!!!

US Bass House heavyweight label Night Bass welcome Russian duo, Volac to the fold. ‘Do Ya Thing’ they said so Volac did just that!!!

The title track is a quirky bouncing rhythm, beats drop in and out of the mix, a freaky female vox tell us to ‘Do Ya Thing’ and a bassline fizzes and bubbles along in compelling fashion.

UK Bass House fans will find instant appeal in ‘Open Your Mind’, a funky UKG influenced track a la Chris Lorenzo style.

‘Listen’ Ft Abrax Phaeton kicks off with some breakbeats, a prelude to a serious cowbell workout and low-end bass that would melt the Siberian snow!!!

Be warned, music like this is highly addictive, you may find yourself spending your entire day hitting the repeat button!!!

Volac – Do Ya Thing EP [Night Bass]

Tantrum Desire’s 2015 debut album Diversified demonstrated the sheer range and depth of music that the TD studio was capable of delivering. With tunes as varied as the gigantic I Need You Here, the aggressively percussive Pump and the classically lo-fi Back for Love, this LP reflected almost every flavour that D&B has to offer.

The project isn’t over yet, though. Now, we’re being treated to a series of remixes to offer even more twists to the formula. For this instalment, the Document One boys have dissected and reconfigured the Coppa-laced Repeat.

The elements of this tune suit Document One’s jazzfunk-hip-hop approach to D&B perfectly. A darkly atmospheric intro drops into Coppa’s vocals backed by a subtle half-speed beat. We get a moment to get used to nodding our heads to this before things are twisted into hyper-rave-mode with synth-stabs signalling it’s time to get set.

Then the grimy warp of the bassline hits, with Document One’s signature popping drums and funk energy. Coppa’s bars ride over the top, providing extra boosts of percussive energy to keep the dancefloor bubbling. And the old skool breakdown and big build into the second drop means that this is more than just a simple roller, it’s got the weight and power to do serious damage in the rave.

This is only round two of the Diversified remix series, and already it’s clear that there’s way more to explore in the Tantrum Desire sound. And with the kind of talent that Technique have on the roster for relick duties, we should expect nothing but fireworks.

Petko Turner is going to make you fall head over heels for his latest edit. His sublime and seductive take on the long version of Martine Girault‘s 1992 hit ‘Revival’ is absolute ear candy! The difference with the long version is the flute and when that reaches your mind, there’s no going back and under it’s spell you will be. Ace work once again from Mr T!

Subdata makes breathtaking Jungle & DnB for labels such as Nottingham based Omni Music and now with his first release for Boomsha….

The tempo is lowered to suit the established and distinct style of Boomsha, home to many of the Jungle scene’s very best. The style, however on both tracks is deep, thoughtful and there’s certainly no slacking in the bassline department!!!

It’s easy to pick up on the faithfulness and love for Jungle/DnB over the decades in these two fine examples of contrasting ambience and darkness set to true junglist breakbeats chopped up in true junglist fashion. Subdata makes a classy contribution to one of the most admirable release catalogues in the modern DnB/Breaks/Jungle pool of imprints. Nothing less than a 10/10, definitely much more!!!
