We last brought you music from Bristol based, Simon Lloyd, quite some time ago in one of our ‘LSM’s 10 Mixes For The Weekend’ blog posts. Simon and I had chatted about him doing an exclusive mix for us but with one thing and another it never came about, so what better time to share his sounds with you all than by having him feature on day number 12 of our advent calendar.

Simon’s cultured taste in music with a groove, has landed him a residency at the fashion store, Harvey Nichols, and one of Bristol’s coolest night spots, No.24. He’s also played Glastonbury for the last 2 years, Grassroots Festival and the very cool, Shindig Weekender festival and it’s the Shindig connection that leads us on to his mix he’s sent over to us that was recorded at the ‘Shindig Weekender Blockparty’, that was held just a couple of weeks ago.

On the night, Simon was warming up for the legendary, Justin Robertson and as your about to hear, he done that perfectly. His sublime one hour set is full to the brim with ultra cool House music that takes off on a rather deep and delicious note that leads on to a tripped out snippet of acid. From there on out, it’s all about funky and groovy House music with a spacey twist and if you’re loving what Simon has laid down in this mix, get over to his his Soundcloud page because there’s even more there waiting your attention!

His new tune ‘Break’ kicks off with with an intro that samples a tune that the old gamers out there will recognize, as it’s been adapted from the classic beat ‘em up ‘Street Fighter 2′. The euphoric intro will lure you in but be warned, fierceness is just around the corner as the track takes off with an almighty drop and morphs into a real hot stepper of a tune with it’s quick tempo and dark, yet rich bassline. The sample is threaded throughout the tune which gives it a proper hands in the air feel and will easily have you reaching for the sky. Class work once again!
